After King Rama 1 had set up Bangkok as the capital and the moats were dug surrounding the inner capital in 1783. A group of Ayuthhaya residents migrated to settle a community by a canal outsite the inner city. The people of this community earned their living by using their original knowledges to make bat (The alm bowl used by monks to receive donations and foods in the morning) The community was called Ban Bat. The bat makers of this community used the original old hammering technique and inherited knowledge to produce alms bowl. All the process done by hand. Alms bowl produced from this community with hammering skills will be high-priced as they durable and completed to the Buddhism rules. (As can be found in the beginning on a sign when entering Monk Bowl Village, a small street in Inner Bangkok) We are proud to offer these very special bowls in our new Thailand collection.
